In Summer 2025, I put flyers up on telephone poles in my neighborhood with the headline “Hey, are you a scientist?”
Fifteen of my neighbors responded, and a community lecture series was born. Hosted at a local cafe, each event features a panel of neighborhood scientists sharing about their research in short, accessible talks. Scientists and non-scientists alike are able to ask questions and engage with new ideas.
Through this series, I hope my neighbors get to know one another in a new way, and science feels more accessible, engaging, and human than it did before.
